Do You Want To Be A Model? 4 Steps

Step 1. Do Some Reading
We highly recommend that you do some research by reading about the modeling industry so you can be aware of the way the industry works, the scams and also to better prepare yourself to get involved.

Step 2. Build a Portfolio
You are going to need some professional photos other than the snap shots you have to build your portfolio. Do not spend hundreds of dollars on this, instead ask photographers for test shoots, get involved in modeling shows or volunteer to model for a college photo class. Collect all the photos you get and put at least ten good shots into a nice portfolio binder, now you have something to show agencies and clients. The more photo shoots you do the more experience you get.

Step 3. Get some Exposure
Now that you have photos you need to show the world who you are and what you can do, you need exposure. The most cost effective way is the web, sign up for a free online portfolio with websites. With an online portfolio you now have a place where everybody can go and see your work. he next part to getting exposure is comp cards, they cost a little money which hopefully by now you would of made by working in fashion shows or promotions with companies like ours. A comp card is like a models passport, it is a big postcard with your photos, stats, measurements and contact information. Get some comp cards made and drop them off (or mail if you have to) to all the modeling agencies in your area. Also when you go for an audition or casting leave them a comp card because that is the only way they can remember what you look like and contact you in 6 months time when they need models.

Step 4.
The final step is to find an agency (or agent) or to represent yourself as a freelancer. Which ever path you choose you have to keep mailing out your photos, emailing your website link, going to casting calls, getting in touch with casting directors and agents to make sure someone hires you. From all the photographers down to the make-up artists you work with, always take advantage of all the contacts you come in touch with because you never know who will recommend you for your next job.Remember the modeling business is very competitive and there will always be someone who is taller, prettier and in better shape than you, so keep a positive attitude, learn to deal with rejection and you will do just fine. Also remember you cannot buy a modeling career so beware of people who will try to sell you your dream with expensive portoflios, photo shoots and pointless modeling classes.
